With the biggest environmental crisis that man has ever faced on hand, we need to do everything we can to foster the care and awareness needed for the next generation to take a stand. Our important goal is to connect people with nature through environmental education. Especially with the state of the economy this year, it is difficult for schools to bring their classes out to the park to learn about the amazing natural history events that happen in our parks: The Goldstream Salmon Run, The Goldstream Eagles, The Brant Migration at Rathtrevor Beach.
The continuation of Vancouver Island’s environmental education in Provincial Parks relies heavily on donations.Since the Provincial Government cut funding for interpretation in 2002 the Nature Houses have been operating though the support of RLC Enterprize- your park facility operator, and donations from the public and local businesses. Fortunately for the past seven years, our fundraising efforts and your donations have made it possible for all schools, regardless of socioeconomic status, to learn about anture in our parks free of charge. If you enjoyed your trip to the park, your interpretive program or would just like to support nature please consider donating to the Nature Houses.
Donations can be made in the following ways:
1. Come out to one of our Nature Houses and make an admission donation (suggested $2/adult and $1/child)
2. Call the Rathtrevor Beach Nature House at 250-248-3198 to make a donation via credit card
3. If you own a local business or know of one that would be interested in supporting what we do, please consider becoming a Goldstream Chum!
All proceeds from donations go directly back towards environmental education in our parks. We strive to make it possible for every school group regardless of socio-economic status to connect with nature. Some of the important environmental education causes that your proceeds go towards include:
Development of new environmental education programs
Free family nature programs in the summer
New Nature House exhibits
Providing free salmon run and eagle programs at Goldstream so that all classes can have a chance to connect with nature
We'd like to thank each and every visitor or business who considers making a donation towards the continuation of our programs. Together we are making our goals happen!
