Our Hearts are Broken...
It is with deep sadness that we announce that we will no longer be operating the Miracle Beach Nature House. RLC Park Services was not the lowest bidder on the new contract to operate the North Island bundle of parks including Miracle Beach. There is still no inclusion of Nature House Programming or Park Interpretation as part of the contract requirements. Our efforts in keeping park interpretation alive in Miracle Beach and the Nature House open, though appreciated, did not carry any weight in the process to choose the park operator for the next ten years. It is with heavy hearts that we have had to come to terms with the idea that what we have built for ten years in the Nature House is now done.
We will continue to offer our park interpretation programs to schools in a number of different ways. We will continue with our in-school/ nearby nature programs where we bring the programs to you. We will also continue with our "Hire a Naturalist" program where our naturalist can be hired to travel with you on your fieldtrip to a park location and provide programming and leadership. We will continue to fight to keep Park Interpretation alive on Vancouver Island. As we wrap-up operations at the Miracle Beach Nature House we will still have our Rathtrevor Beach and Goldstream Provincial Park Nature Houses open for operation and programs happening in parks throughout the region including our fantastic Horne Lake Adventures.
Yours in Nature,
