Depending on your skills and interests, you can become one or more of the following volunteers:
1. Giftshop Guru The Rathtrevor Beach Nature House boasts one of the largest selection of Natural History Books on Vancouver Island, as well as many other gifts and souvenirs. Use your excellent customer service and retail skills to help us raise money for environmental education! Duties include: Welcoming Nature House visitors, providing visitors with information on trails and hiking, cashiering, merchandising and restock, tidying of bookstore and coffee station, making coffee as needed. |

2. Trail Talker Many visitors to the park are out on a trail when they have an important question to ask- with nobody to answer. You can be that answerer! Trail Talkers spend most of their time out on the trails using their knowledge and friendliness to answer those oh-so-important questions. You will be armed with an assortment of trail maps and natural history information, providing a welcoming presence on the trails as well as encouraging people to visit the Nature House. |

3. Assistant Naturalist If you enjoy all aspects of learning and have a passion for environmental education, then this is the volunteer position for you! Duties include: Answering nature-related questions posed by Nature House visitors or out on the trail, caring for Nature House resident animals, leading nature walks, assisting naturalists with school programs. |

4. Mr./Mrs. Fix-It With all of the visitors, exhibits, school programs and events happening at the Nature House, things are bound to break or go awry at some point! Luckily we have fix-it volunteers, who are very handy at making things right again! If you take pride in a job well done- this is the position for you! Fix-it volunteers can work on an on-call basis or come in for regular shifts performing duties such as cleaning, weeding, pulling broom and chopping firewood. |
note that all volunteers attend training sessions to prepare them for their duties!
