Use your excellent customer service and retail skills to help us raise money for environmental education! Duties include: Welcoming Nature House visitors, providing visitors with information on trails and hiking, cash handling, merchandising and restock, tidying of bookstore and coffee station, making coffee as needed.
2. Trail Talker
Many visitors to the park are out on a trail when they have an important question to ask- with nobody to answer. You can be that answerer! Trail Talkers spend most of their time out on the trails using their knowledge and friendliness to answer those oh-so-important questions. You will be armed with an assortment of trail maps and natural history information, providing a welcoming presence on the trails as well as encouraging people to visit the Nature House.
3. Assistant Naturalist
If you enjoy all aspects of learning and have a passion for environmental education, then this is the volunteer position for you! Duties include: Answering nature-related questions posed by Nature House visitors or out on the trail, caring for Nature House residents (toad and salmon fry), leading nature walks, assisting Naturalists with school programs.
4. Mr./Mrs. Fix-It
With all of the visitors, exhibits, school programs and events happening at the Nature House, things are bound to break or go awry at some point! Luckily we have fix-it volunteers, who are very handy at making things right again! If you take pride in a job well done- this is the position for you! Fix-it volunteers can work on an on-call basis or come in for regular shifts performing duties such as cleaning, weeding, pulling broom and chopping firewood.
NOTE: all volunteers will undergo an initial screening and provide a criminal record check before attending training sessions to prepare for their duties!
